shots + thoughts | chunky knits

To me, Autumn/Winter months are pretty much synonymous with cosiness; whether you’re most excited for gingerbread lattes (basic but irresistible), sporting the ultimate fluffy slippers and fluffy socks combo 24/7, or snuggling up under the million-tog duvet with a book about how to be more hygge.

This post is the first in an ongoing series I’m starting out called Shots + Thoughts, where I show you how I style various pieces and talk you through how I go about the styling process.

I recently asked on my Twitter and Instagram which pieces you’d be most interested in seeing me style during the colder months, and coming out on top was the chunky knit, so I opted for a MANGO knit I recently picked up that I’ve been getting so much wear out of.

When it comes to oversized pieces, I find that I feel most comfortable pairing them with ‘lighter’ pieces, whether that’s in colour (neutral tones, whites), texture (finer materials to add a refined edge to an otherwise slumped silhouette) or shape (slim-fit, straight-leg or tapered trousers (or leggings) to balance out an otherwise lack of shape).

One thing I adore about chunky knits is that, whilst you can pair them with equally as chunky footwear for a slimmed-leg, they look just as put together and balanced-out, as such, with lighter footwear (Old Skool Vans, loafers).
