shopping independent | shoreditch

So, you’re looking to check out a new area of London and you’ve heard that Shoreditch is pretty cool. Well, I can confirm: it is filled with nonstop good vibes and lined with Pinterest-ready shots waiting to happen. If you get the chance, you’ve got to visit!

Around half an hour from Euston by bus (Bus 205 from Stop D, if you’re planning a trip there), Shoreditch is the perfect go-to for young creatives with an eye for design and an appetite for good food. It’s 100% my type on paper, so I recently headed there to share with you my favourite spots!

Where to Shop

First up, the iconic Box Park. This place is awesome. Basically it’s a pop up shopping mall with the perfect combination of sweet treats, snacks and stylish stores. If you’re looking for the ideal place to pick up some lifestyle pieces that’s pretty much pre-curated for your convenience, Box Park is the one for you.

One of my favourite stores is Papersmiths – a wonderful blend of gorgeous stationery, gifts and desk accessories framed by the pink tiles I’m determined to install in my own home.

If homeware is your thing, you’ll want to check out the stunning Decorum. Complete with beautiful lifestyle books, golden kitchen accessories and the Mongolian sheep fur cushions you’ll never want to let go of, this little beauty is the Pinterest dream.

Next up, if you want to inject some colour into your living space, I’d recommend checking out the prints in The Play Box. Brimming with vibrant decor and home accessories that you really want but really don’t need, this one is perfect for discovering something that leaves you thinking, ‘just when you think you’ve seen it all’. I picked up a beautiful print here, complete with pink tiling detail so I can incorporate some of that Papersmiths aesthetic.

Looking forward to showing you how I’m displaying it in my new apartment in future posts – stay tuned for interior-focused posts as I move into my new place next week!

One of my favourite stores to visit in Boxpark is Astrid & Miyu, a London based jewellery brand that creates beautifully delicate pieces that I’m absolutely in love with.

Near Boxpark I recently discovered Hot Futures, an effortlessly cool style shop with everything from retro sunglasses and vintage shirts to awesome graphic tshirts and statement accessories.

Where to Eat

If you’re looking to grab something substantial and savoury, you’ve got to check out Coqfighter. As the name suggests, this place is pretty offbeat! Earlier this week I went for the 5 Piece K-Wings, comprising of vodka-battered chicken wings with garlic soy sauce and Korean hot sauce. Not bad for £6.50, right?

It’s no secret that I am one of the biggest supporters of Dum Dum Donutterie, so part of my Shoreditch schedule always includes a trip there - you’ve heard me rave about their Brighton store many times before.

I’ve also heard great things about Soft Serve Society, so whilst I can’t recommend it first hand, I do trust Lily‘s word that it’s absolutely incredible!

Where to Wander

Shoreditch is like a street art gallery. The entire area is laced with an amazing array of pieces, each one grabbing your attention for a different reason, with a different message. Here are a couple of pieces that caught my eye earlier this week!

If you head to Shoreditch and try out any of the places I’ve mentioned – or discover anywhere new – please do let me know! I’d love to see your photos and hear about your thoughts on the area.
