the SS19 mood

Grab your straw baskets and SPF - it’s ( finally ) time for some sunshine. Oh, And a capsule wardrobe seasonal update, too!

I’ve been taking some time to analyse my most recently saved images, whether pinned to my minimalist fashion board on Pinterest or a selection of my favourite posts over on Instagram to figure out what sort of mood I’d like my capsule wardrobe to convey this Spring / Summer.

Here’s my visual research which is simultaneously my conclusive moodboard, complete with occasional descriptions about what I like about the image / style / piece.

What sort of vibe is your SS19 wardrobe conveying?

Obsessed with this image by Toteme - in particular those shoes which, ironically, are the only piece pictured that isn’t by the brand. I’m assuming they’re Manolo Blahniks.

Back at it again with the squared necklines. Love the way Jenny’s styled this one with a fresh updo, minimal makeup and a bold lip - such a good way to help this outfit to transition from day time to evening. I also seem to have a thing for concrete walls at the moment. Weird? Yes. Do I care? No.

I’ve been searching for some go-to dresses for SS19 over the past couple of months and I’m yet to find any ( besides from the one I was recently sent ) that I’m 100% in love with. Do let me know of any recommendations store/designer-wise. Also really loving the chunky sandal trend and its juxtaposition against delicate pieces.

I’m a baggy shorts kinda gal. I find them so much more flattering, easy to style ( they look great with both oversized and slim fit tops ) and, most importantly, they’re so comfortable - particularly in the Spring / Summer heat! I’m really enjoying pairing vintage pieces with contemporary ones too; I really like the way the crisp lines of a fresh-off-the-shelf garment contrast with the pre-loved softness of an older piece.

I was recently sent a dress very similar to this one which I actually picked out from a lookbook - I had no idea that Brittany has a very similar one, so when I scrolled past this image on Pinterest, I was excited to check out how she styled it!

As always. I’m on the lookout for pieces with unexpected contemporary details with classic cuts and shapes. Really love the way this piece captures a somewhat bold feature in the garment’s base colour. It sort of effortlessly stands out.
